In this book, 16-year-old Summer gets kidnapped one night when out with her friends. The man who takes her wants a perfect family. When Summer gets introduced to the cellar where she now be living, everyone begins calling her Lily. There are three other girls being held hostage: Rose, Violet, and Poppy. Clover (the kidnapper) calls them flowers because he believes that a human should be perfect, just like a flower.  This is a great book for anyone who likes to read books that have a lot of suspense and unexpected turns in the text.

Summer is a very tough character that faces a bad situation and tries to convince herself that she will not break like some of the other girls, but begins to doubt that each passing day that she is held under Clover’s roof. When the story switches perspectives, you learn more about the past lives of the characters and why Clover got the need to obtain the pure, perfect family that he tries to get himself. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat as you learn all about the challenges that each character must face. This book is a great book in the way that it is written. It is easy to understand, but not too easy that you get bored.
