Babylon High School’s theater department held their annual play on the weekend of December 7th! This year, they performed the 1944 play “Harvey.” “Harvey” is a comedy that centers around Elwood P. Dowd, a man whose best friend is an invisible, six-foot-tall rabbit named Harvey. Elwood’s sister, Veta, is embarrassed by his behavior and attempts to have him committed to a sanitarium. However, through a series of misunderstandings, Veta ends up being committed instead. The play explores themes of reality versus illusion, the nature of sanity, and the importance of kindness and acceptance. The actors did an amazing job, and Jamisyn Cerny, who plays Veta, says that the quote “I always have a wonderful time, wherever I am, whomever I’m with,” spoken by Elwood P. Dowd, perfectly captures her experience on this production.
